Harry passed away on 22nd may 2005 aged 61,sadly this was on his eldest daughter Alisons
birthday.Harry worked as a foreman painter and decorator for Thistle Hotels (he was the best in his
field) he took pride in his work and enjoyed what he did.My dad worked away a lot,in the late 70s he
worked in Germany and was asked to move out there but my mam said no she couldnt leave her mam and
her special children.While my dad worked for Thistle Hotels he was in London which he loved(SO THE
TEMPLATE OF TOWER BRIDGE IS PERFECT.)he used to take my mam down to London with him sometimes and
they'd do my mams favourite thing,hit the shops.As much as he loved London my dads heart was in
Leeds,he followed Leeds united all his life,he was buried with a Leeds top draped over his coffin
and the old white with blue and yellow stripes scarf.He was born in leeds and grew up in Torre Hill
ls9,later he moved to Belle Isle when his wife Carole moved with her job.Carole passed away aged 48
in 1994 and my dad never got over this she was the love of his life .My dad was known to his friends
as "H" and he enjoyed a laugh and used to drive my mam mad with practical jokes,he was known to
have a joke at work with the lads too they were like a group of kids.My dad loved his family and
adored his grandchildren Ben,Jessica,Jack,Rosie,Joshua and greatgrandchildren Harry"little H" and
Brandon who sadly he never got to meet.My dad was massively in to his music you could ask him
anything about a song or a singer and he would know the answer,his record collection is vast and now
belongs to me,when i was younger i would listen to my dads records while he was at work and then
sneak them back like id never touched them and as long as i was carefull and didnt do any damage to
the cover or the vinyl i thought he would never know(SILLY ME LOL)one day he was listening to
Brenda Lee one of my favourites from his collection,i was doing a crossword on the other side of the
room and was singing away not missing a word,"I thought you said you havnt touched my records Jo","i
havnt" i said my dad started to smile and said "thats funny then ,isnt it how you know all the words
to every song" .my singing had caught me out my mam was laughing her heart out i'd been busted.He
laughed and said "at least you've got taste."
My dad went in to hospital to
have fluid drained from his body which he had done on a few visits but this time was different as
while he was there he contracted MRSA and suffered very badly for quite a while before sadly losing
his battle.The devastation i felt at the prospect of losing another parent could never be put into
words,when i was growing up i never thought i would have to sit and hold my mam and dads hand while
they passed but i have had to do this with both and it is the hardest thing i've ever done.I miss my
mam and dad every day and hope they have been reunited,its only that thought that gives me comfort

I said a prayer for you today and know god must of heard . I felt the answer in my heart although he spoke not a word . I didnt ask for wealth or fame ( i knew you wouldnt mind ). I asked for more priceless treasures rare of a more lasting kind.I prayed that he'd be near you at the start of each new day to grant you health and blessing fair,and friends to share your way.I asked for happeniness for you in all things great and small but that you'd know his loving care i prayed the most of all. xxxxxxxxxxxxx

I've listened to the footprints poem
a million times or more
of how when only one set shows
upon the sandy shore
it's the lord carrying us
and taking on our load
and his are the only set
of footprints that showed
But what if when we look
there are no footprints to be found?
all we see is plain and simple
sand upon the ground
no imprints showing that our lord
is carrying us through life
helping us when we feel
we can not handle all this strife
Where is my lord now that i've fallen
and can't seem to get back up?
so tired and lonely
trying to deal with what seems
an overflowing cup
where are those footprints
in the sand
to tell me he's right there?
helping me with problems
and showing that he really does care
Does he have favourites, OH NO
please tell me that's not so
but why does life seem easier
for some people that I know?
and sometimes I just scream out loud
although it seems in vain
but often gets harder each day
to deal with all this pain
And then it dawned on me
as I realize how simple could it be
I wonder why I was so blind
that I truly did not see
it must have been a lightening bolt
that one day gave me light
because out of the clear blue sky
I finally regained my sight
I saw a fluffy white cloud
shaped like an angel dear
that helped me to understand
and see things oh so clear
that's when I saw no footprints
and so often wondered why
my lord carried me on angel wings
when he decided to fly.
